End-of-Life Doula
Pueblo, Colorado, USA

About

I am a newborn end-of-life doula, emerging out of two intensive years of study with the Going with Grace training program. I am transitioning from being a birth doula to becoming a death doula in response to a call I’ve been hearing for several years. My professional history is a crazy quilt of experiences –ranging from being a preschool teacher on a farm, a children’s librarian at a public library, a legal advocate for domestic violence cases, and a Spanish English interpreter/translator, to being a farm laborer (and interpreter for head farmer and workers) and a construction worker (in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic). I love the diversity of these experiences, and I believe my humanity and ethical compass have been formed by all the edges and challenges I have encountered along the way. My fluency in Spanish is one of the offerings I bring to this work, as is a holding a certification in Humane Education. I am also excited to offer auricular acupuncture (POCA-certified). My main focus is currently on life review and legacy work, as well as emotional and logistical support of the dying and their family members. I am interested in forming a threshold choir in my small community … that is just one of my many death doula dreams. I am so honored to belong to this association, and excited to immerse myself in this work.
