About

Alida Merrill is a hospice nurse, educator, and end-of-life doula (INELDA) whose career sits at the intersection of healthcare administration and human connection. She holds degrees in business, nursing, public health, and marriage and family therapy — a combination that shapes her holistic approach to end-of-life care. After years working across the healthcare spectrum, she found her way back to what she calls “work from the heart,” focusing her practice on hospice and palliative care.

Alida works as a hospice nurse, serves as an adjunct professor teaching a nursing course on palliative and end-of-life care, and offers community education presentations on end of life choices including Medical Aid in Dying. She holds an Advance Care Planning certificate and has completed a Medical Aid in Dying overview course, deepening her expertise in helping individuals and families navigate the choices that matter most at the end of life. Alida is a volunteer with End of Life Choices New York and Compassion & Choices New York, advocating for dignity, autonomy, and compassionate care in life’s final chapter.
