About
I’m a Portland-based death doula and grief guide, and the founder of blue jae. I bring an uncommon combination to this work: 15 years of operational leadership, Nine Keys death midwifery training, a year-long death doula residency at BeLoved Hospice, and deep MAID experience in the Portland community. As a longtime volunteer with End of Life Choices Oregon, I am one of a small number of local practitioners with deep, direct knowledge of Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act and the practical, emotional, and logistical realities families face when choosing this path.
I am a knowledgeable companion who brings time, steadiness, and presence with one foot in the practical, one in the sacred. I help families slow things down, understand what’s happening, and feel less alone within it. My deepest belief: families already carry the knowledge of how to be with death and grief. I am here to help them remember it.
Through blue jae, I offer 1:1 mortality companionship, end-of-life doula support, MAID guidance, grief companioning, advance care planning, and intimate in-home community gatherings and ritual. For healthcare organizations and care teams, I offer partnership to integrate death doula services into broader systems of support.
Blue jae is named in honor of my mother, Julie Rae.
Serving individuals, families, and organizations throughout the Portland metro area.
