INELDA
About
The International End-of-Life Doula Association (INELDA), formed in 2015, is a member-based, nonprofit with the mission to encourage the presence
of end-of-life doulas by normalizing death, dying, and grief through conscientious education, and stewardship, and by fostering community and advocacy.
The INELDA Doula Approach offers a process-based model with principles that simultaneously inform doulas as they provide support for a dying person and their circle of care. This global approach includes three main principles of self-awareness, autonomy of the dying, and the dying process. Each principle includes a number of elements that support the application of the principle. Full-self listening.
We prepare learners to move receptively into their communities and provide person-specific care at and act as an advocate for death-awareness. Our curriculum is bolstered by a group of passionate and inclusive educators who bring years of experience in hospice, nursing, psychotherapy, social work, education, and supporting the dying. INELDA educators have worked in ICU units, delivery rooms, private homes, hospices, AIDS service organizations, and other spaces where people die.
