About
As a child and young adult, up to present-day I find myself curiously well-positioned to assist animals gravely wounded to move through the death process, as well as human beings. After the death of my three year old son who was afflicted with a brain tumor, I worked for 15 years advocating for greater research into cures for the deadliest childhood cancers, culminating in two recurring resolutions in the US House of Representatives and Senate, after initiating the movement in the California Legislature to recognize DIPG, diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. Haunted by memories of previous deaths since childhood, I came to find a yogic path for spiritual growth to help me to better accept and understand life and death, having grown up in, and therefore having been conditioned by, a culture which denies the reality of death as well as past life memory. After discovering deity yoga and developing a Tibetan Buddhist practice which has very specific protocols and observances with the process of death, I felt relieved to have found a healing opportunity. Presented with a Death Doula Training Program of study, I understand that I have been preparing for a path of service which I now embrace. Dying is the ultimate threshold of existence as we know it as human beings, and thus deserves diligent preparation for an auspicious new beginning. I continue to embrace many faiths and teachings of spiritual masters, namely Jesus the Christ, Paramahansa Yogananda, and my mentor Prema Dasara of the Tara Dhatu Organization. I continue to study with the Center for Soul Evolution on Mount Shasta, with Antera and Omaran, my teachers and mentors. It is an honor and a privilege to enter into this service.
