My name is Kris Koch and I am a Certified End-of-Life Doula through Doulagivers Institute. The way I became a Doula is I was a hospice volunteer for over 13 years and loved serving my patients and their families with all my heart. It was (and still is) the most meaningful “work” I have ever done, and I consider it an overwhelmingly humble honor to sit with an ill or dying patient and his/her family at such a tender time of life. I think this is a “calling” field and I definitely recognized my calling as soon as I became aware of End-of-Life Doulas and their work. It was the natural and logical extension of my hospice volunteer work (which I still do).
