About
Anne-Catherine Higham
I support individuals and families through the emotional and practical dimensions of end-of-life, wherever they are on their journey. This includes those beginning to explore end-of-life planning as well as clients and caregivers navigating the more immediate realities of dying and grief. With a holistic and heart-centered approach, I walk alongside each person, offering steady presence, thoughtful guidance and compassionate support through the often complex transitions that arise.
I bring to this work my professional training (University of Vermont EOLD Certificate in 2022) as well academic education (Masters) and my lived experience: a recent empty-nester, I have raised my family across different countries, navigated life transitions, and beared witness to illness, caregiving and grief within my own circles. These personal encounters with loss and resilience deeply inform my presence as a doula.
Following certification, I founded La Doula LLC, my end-of-life practice rooted in dignity, deep listening and relational presence. I also founded and lead The Doula Guild, a growing network of over 100 doulas. The Doula Guild connects end-of-life practitioners in person to foster collaboration and expand the reliability and continuity of doula services, while amplifying shared wisdom and mutual support.
I am committed to continually evolving my practice through education, community and alignment with the values of ethical, intentional and collaborative care.
Based in Boston, I work with clients in person across the region and also offer virtual support as needed (English or French).
