Rev. JeKaren Bell (she/her) is an ordained and fellowshipped Unitarian Universalist minister and certified death and grief doula (Doulagivers) based in Longmont, Colorado, serving through her practice, The Grief Altar. With nearly 25 years as a religious professional, she holds an MDiv from Starr King School for the Ministry and an MS in Nonprofit Leadership from Arizona State University.

JeKaren offers grief accompaniment, ritual design, and end-of-life accompaniment for individuals and families navigating dying, death, and loss. Her approach draws on ancestral altar work and African diasporic spiritual traditions, alongside her training as an artist, poet, and herbalist, bringing creative and contemplative practices such as mixed-media ritual art into her work with clients. She also offers Made Sacred, a ritual art-making session that invites clients into embodied, hands-on grief processing.

JeKaren’s ministry centers on accompanying people through thresholds, whether that threshold is active dying, the immediate aftermath of loss, or the ongoing work of integrating grief into a life still capable of joy and love. She believes that joy and love remain necessary companions through grief, not its opposites, and she brings that conviction into every space she holds.

She serves individuals, families, and communities in the Longmont, Boulder, and greater Denver area, with services available in person and remotely.
