Since my earliest days working at an HIV clinic, I have been called to be with the dying. While others turn away, I am drawn to connect more deeply. I have found that presence, listening and attention can transform the dying experience from fear and confusion to peace, meaning, connection and even wonder. I offer emotional, practical and spiritual support to the dying and to their families and I work with families to honor and grieve the loss of a loved one. Together we identify what is most important and prepare and plan for this most sacred passage, creating an environment to facilitate gentle dying, and a comfortable and supported death.
