Shawna Barlette is an end of life doula with a practice in Raleigh, North Carolina. She obtained her certification from University of Vermont. She holds a second certification as a Death Literacy Specialist as presented by Contemplative Doula.

Her life’s journey has led her to death care, transforming lives through compassionate and effective education, coaching and presence. With over six years of dedicated experience, she has had the privilege of guiding individuals and their families through the uneasiness that accompanies the final period of life by providing practical and emotional support, resources and education.

Beyond this role, she is deeply invested in the ongoing conversations about death and dying and our societies attitudes towards it. She advocates for normalizing the topic of death and bereavement by regularly attending death cafes, conferences, continuing education, and symposiums.
