About
Currently, I am working F/T as a Palliative & Hospice Care Chaplain in a large hospital setting. I am a Board-Certified Chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). My educational credentials include a Bachelors in Sociology/Social Work (BS), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Divinity (MDiv). When I soon retire from my current position I will be working as a F/T Death Doula.
This “work” is a calling; it is in my DNA and for that I am grateful and blessed. Being present with people who are nearing death is sacred, precious. Supporting and caring for the families who love the dying person is just as important. In my work I walk alongside you in the dying process journey and all that comes afterwards.
Although I am an ordained United Methodist Minister in the Christian faith tradition, I honor, respect, and follow the dying person’s wishes and adhere strictly to what they value and believe. In all aspects of both life and death, I am 100% focused on the dying person and their loved ones and their belief system and rituals. Serving all humans, no matter race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, I view and respect people through a humble and loving understanding and respect.
My experience and offerings may begin during an expected short or lengthy illness, the dying process, at the time of death and afterward.
As your Death Doula, I will be guiding the dying person through the journey of their body slowing down, as well as support the family during this time of anticipatory grief. Additionally, I offer any rituals that will bring comfort and peace. Finally, I can assist in the logistical work and processes after death, including grief support. My role can be as little or as much as you would like. It would be my honor to serve you as your Death Doula.
